lineage 2 can swim too...
in GW there are not a single place that I know of where your character are completely underwater even by standing. (at least not anywhere that I am aware of)
for jumping... type /jump =P
but really... not needed, not trying to make this game into a FPS.
and climbing... not even FPS have climbing... unless given a ladder or stairs.

No... put walls around the 200 foot drops into empty areas and pits you wouldn't be able to get out of.

And then the people would complain that they cant jump in the crater. After all it is not realistic that I cant jump into a hole in the ground. Or why cant I jump off this big cliff to get down there, Yada Yada Yada....

It has little to do with realism. We are playing a game where people shoot fireballs out of thin air. It's more about being accustomed to doing something and now being forced to do something else. If I see a small drop in a game down to where I need to go, I'm used to hitting the spacebar (standard jump key) and taking a little fall damage. In this game I have to run around. It is a very minor point and I myself don't care much about it, but I'm just trying to point out why someone might care.

Heh. Yeah. After I posted that, I started thinking about MMORPGs. Oh well.

But jumping isnt a major part... I dont see how it would make the game any better then it is. Worse possibly with stuck and getting bugs. I just dont see why walking is such a bit deal.

I converted to GuildWars from WoW because of the monthly fee. However, I too find not being able to jump to be very annoying.

If this is a make-or-break feature for you, I think you have larger issues.

Now I don't want to insult anyone here or get into a flamefest.
But I think some people are being a bit glib about saying that, "if jumping is a dealbreaker you have problems" or "just get some other game."
Having to run around a gradual hill while mobs fire spells and arrows at you is a bit lame. Arbitrary boundaries cause problems, not the least of which is "suspension of disbelief." That may not be a game breaker. But it does lower the enjoyment level for some people, including me.
As another poster mentioned, maybe it's a coding issue. Okay, no problem. But I don't see why people can't mention it without others trying to make them feel like idiots.

I suspect the lack of climbing/swimming/jumping is due to the way the game is instanced.
There are a lot of places where jumping (say) a wall would hop you clear into the next zone...and defeat some of the mission goals that've been set up, by skipping the mission designer's intended path.
No complaints about it, personally--tho a short jump would be awfully handy as a replacement for a /stuck command, I've already seen several places where a jump would take you on a half-mile shortcut, so I doubt we'll ever see it in GW.

I find it extremely annoying. Simple things like walking up to a lake. If that little girl is following you (i.e., Gwen) then you can get stuck between the lake and the girl because of the boundary lines. Now you have to stand there and wait for that girl to back up so you can go around the boundary line and escape the trap. This happens to me all the time as I travel in the woods where the bushes also have boundary lines and I can't walk through them. I walked up a hill and thought "well, i should be able to walk down the hill since I walked up the hill" but nope, the character gets stuck. And if you walk too close to the edge of the cliff with Gwen following you then you get stuck again and can't go anywhere. You have to wait for Gwen to back up again. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just jump in the water and escape the trap without having to wait? Wouldn't it be nice if you could just jump off the cliff, lose a little health, but at least break away from the boundary trap? Geesh, I'm playing both WoW and GW and when I logged onto WoW it was such a feeling of relief just to know that there are no real limits placed on me.

Those are MMOs, this game is free.
The devs put alot into this game for pretty much no monthly return (aside from copies sold).

Jumping in the matrix is actually the best part of the game, once you get hyperjump, its pretty sweet.

I came here from COH where jumping is a big part of combat. At first I was a bit shocked at not being able to jump, but really its not that big of a deal. It more or less fits with the game system.
No jump is a bit odd, maybe they will add that later. I would not put this on my top 10 must.

I personaly don't care that there is no jumping. And I hope they do not add it because it would remove alot of stragety in the game. And you will be able to skip to much in missions and such. And could you immagine lining yourself up for a jump when you are laging? I bet it would be the most fustrating thing on the game.
The stragety I am talking about is where you are under a small cliff with enemies up top hitting you. The stragety here would be to get you ranged people to draw there attention and hopefuly stun them for long enough so your melee chars can get up there.

Also, like in WoW it is fun to see your character jump and (as with the night elves) do a summersault (sp?). I too hate that you get stuck on little things like bushes or dips in the ground, it gets so frustrating I can't stand it. This game reminds me so much of Diablo II by how the characters move. However, in that game I didn't get stuck on every damn thing all the time. It just goes to show they could have at least done a better job of making the terrain if they weren't intending to allow you to jump.
